Lebanese artichoke is low in calories and fat, as every 100 grams of sprouts contains only 47 calories. However, it is a rich source of dietary fiber and antioxidants, providing 504 grams per 100 grams, or about 14% of the recommended daily intake. Dietary fiber helps control constipation and lower bad cholesterol levels by sticking to it in the intestines. It also helps reduce the risk of colon cancer by absorbing toxic compounds in food.
